spa at yellow sulphur springs
christiansburg, va; fifth year
I aimed to create a space which would help people to contemplate their personal religion as well as their place in the world. This is achieved through connection to nature and healing water. Additionally, nurturing the body nourishes the soul and this building is formed around that function of life. The structure acknowledges the vernacular architecture present, both in scale as well as in acceptance of the seasons. This project frames nature in a way which promotes revelation, a slowing down, and an appreciation of the regular.
